Efforts to help pull the endangered New England cottontail back from the brink

A medium-sized brown and gray rabbit is driving people on Cape Cod to crawl on their hands and knees through the snow, searching for signs of it. It is the New England cottontail, one of the rarest species in the Northeast.

“We know that they’re here. We just don’t know how many,” said Tony Perry, a field worker in the tribe’s natural resources department who has been helping with the cottontail project.

Since 1960, the rabbit has vanished from 86 percent of the places it lived, according to federally funded studies. The New England cottontail is now one of just two species at the highest federal priority level in the entire Northeast, from Maine to West Virginia.

Warmth from an Angel

A woman who escaped her husband after years of domestic abuse took one thing with her a pet rabbit named Ruby Angel for the angel-like pattern on its nose. The woman sought help from a shelter, but they wouldn't take her pet. So she contacted House Rabbit Society.

Lost in Maze!

We have a great new toy in the store... *drumroll*..... introducing the Maze Haven! When we first set up the Maze for our bunnies, they nearly went crazy running in and out of the Maze. They had to stop after an hour of exploration, as they were just too exhausted! It was as great fun for them as well as for us to watch them.

We can't wait for other bunnies to get lost in the Maze as well. Hence, for this month, we are giving you a special discount of 15% off each Maze. So do hurry and get your hands (and bunny paws) on this great playground. Click here to read more on the Maze Haven.

Blankeys to the rescue!

2 of our bunnies recently decided that the area outside their litterpans was more conducive for their bowel business. Perhaps due to the erratic weather, they may have been feeling lazy and just refuse to make the effort to hop into their litterpan to pee at times! Hence making such a pee mess around the litterpan everyday.

Fortunately, we found an ingenius solution! We sewed 2 pieces of the organic bunny quilts (L) together and placed it around the litterpans. It worked out great -the quilts soak up the urine without allowing seep-throughs (prevent stains on floors), allow Bunny Feet to stay dry and clean, and also stop Bunny Feet from spreading the pee mess to the rest of their home.

Whats best is that the quilts are washable and can be used over and over again, letting us do our part for the environment.

Do check out the Bunny Blankeys and Quilts in the toys section.

Bring Your Own Bunny at Japan's rabbit cafe

See how ingenious the Japanese are! : ) This is a bunny cafe located in the Japanese city of Nagoya. It allows pet owners BYOB (Bring Your Own Bunnies) or pay a 60p a minute to cuddle the "resident bunnies".

**However, I hope the cafe could provide some maize/floor mats on the wire grills of the bunnies' cages. I'm sure the bunnies would be grateful for that extra comfort to their feet whilst in their cages. **
